  • Does Rawsome use human grade meat?
Yes! Here at rawsome, we pride ourselves on using high quality meats all the while providing an affordable wholesome product. Our meat comes from local farms and farms here in the us. All of our meat is USDA certified human grade meat and personally inspected by us. Because we hand make the food in small 200 pound batches, we are able to hand inspect each case of meat that goes into the grinder.
  • Why does Rawsome not use veggies or fruits in the blends?
We feel that a prey model diet is the best way to start. This is a great base that is packed with vitamins and minerals but depending on your pets needs you may add certain things on top of the 80/10/10 ratio including vegetables, nuts and herbs of your choice. Since dogs do not produce cellulase enzyme, it makes it almost impossible for them to break down plant matter unless an extra step is added to the process such as fermentation. Fruit is also not recommend with meals since it can actually ferment in their stomach and cause digestive upset. Our food is a great base and we highly recommend adding to the bowl with items your pet may need. Our motto is “feeding one dog at a time” and that often means taking each dogs needs and building the bowl up from there. If you need help on figuring out what to add please send us and email or give us a call, we are here to help!
  • Are Rawsome's grinds balanced?
Our blends are designed to follow a prey model 80/10/10 ratio, which means they consist of approximately 80% meat, 10% organ meat, and 10% bone. However, we have made adjustments to our formula over the past 5 years to further enhance the balance of the diet. While we still use the 80/10/10 ratio as a guide, our own perfected formula may deviate slightly from those percentages. In our limited ingredient blends , we include at least two different proteins to provide a variety of nutrients. When formulating our grinds, we take into account the guidelines provided by organizations such as AFFCO, FEDIAF, and NRC. These guidelines help us ensure that our blends meet the nutritional needs of pets. However, we also understand that each pet is unique, and their dietary requirements may vary. That's why we take a personalized approach to assist our customers in selecting the most suitable blend for their pets and determine if any additional ingredients or supplements are necessary. We believe that diets should not be a one-size-fits-all approach. While certain ingredients used to "balance" the diet can be beneficial for many dogs, they may not be suitable for every individual and could potentially cause more harm than good. Therefore, we work closely with our customers to tailor our blends to their pets' specific needs, promoting overall health and well-being.
  • How long will my food last once opened?
We recommend using the food within 3 days of it being fully thawed to ensure optimal freshness. This will help maintain the best taste and quality of the product.
